park home living: buying a park home

Buying a park home can seem like a daunting process. There are details that you might not be sure of and areas of the industry that quite simply baffle you. This page will give you an insight in to the different ways of buying a park home and important points to consider, which our staff can go through in more detail with you.

The first point that you need to be aware of is that the park you choose must be a member of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association, our governing body that actively promotes good practices in line with the Park Homes Charter. The BH&HPA help us to operate and manage our parks in line with the latest legislation, so that you can be confident that you are receiving the most up-to-date information about park life, your future security and the park home purchasing process.

Our park managers are fully involved with each step of the process to ensure that your move happens as smoothly as possible and that you feel like a personal resident and not just a sale. Once you are in your new home, we will continue to provide this support and with new homes, attend to any after sale issues that may occur.

Purchasing a new bespoke home

If you are selling your house, you have time on your side while your house sells, so you may consider buying a home that will be built to your exact specification.

  • We can meet you at the park to talk you through the brochures of each of the manufacturers and discuss the plot layout so that you can take full advantage of the surrounding views.
  • We can also meet you at the manufacturers factory, to combine their help and our plot knowledge to help you design the interior and exterior of your new home.
  • The home will benefit from a full 10 year warranty.
  • At Wildwood Park we are able to offer you free accommodation while you wait for your home to be delivered.

Purchasing a new home already sited

It is possible that you do not have to sell a property, or that your property could be about to complete? You may want to consider purchasing a new home which has already been sited on a park.

  • As the home is already sited on the park it is available immediately with no delivery time.
  • The home will have been designed by our sales team to ensure that its layout is perfectly suited to the plot on which it is situated.
  • You can see the home in situ and have a great feeling of how you would be leading your new life.
  • The home will benefit from a full 10 year warranty.

Purchasing a previously occupied home

Purchasing a previously occupied home can often provide a more cost effective option for some customers. The park owner, the current resident or a local estate agent will be selling the park home. Either way, you must arrange to meet with the park owner to ensure that they are happy for you to move onto the park and that they have the opportunity to talk you through the purchasing process in detail.

  • As per the Park Homes Charter, we always recommend that customers have the home independently surveyed before they part with their savings or sign any paper work.
  • The home will be available immediately, as it is already on the park, ready for you to move into.
  • As a more cost effective option, purchasing a previously occupied home may enable you to release more capital to enjoy in your retirement, or give you the ability to afford a larger home than you had originally budgeted for.
  • Depending on its age the home may still have a period of time remaining on its warranty.
